The SCR portal: the Supreme Court's own law report, now in one place

The SCR portal is the Supreme Court of India's official law reporter, it costs nothing, and since May 2025 it has replaced two separate sites with one. Think of two reading rooms that used to sit in different buildings, one for searching reported judgments (e-SCR) and one for browsing the printed-style volumes (Digital SCR), now knocked through into a single room. The Chief Justice of India launched the merged portal on 7 May 2025, and the Court's Registry described it as the official law reporter, prepared by the Court's own Editorial Branch and tied to a Court-approved system of citation. The Digital SCR half of the story began in January 2024, when digital publication replaced the print edition and the back volumes from 1950 onward went online. One caution is printed on the portal itself: the contents are for information, so if you are filing something, check the original record. Reach it directly, or through the "eServices" menu on the Court's website.
