PRS Legislative Research
Parliament, translated for humans

PRS is a non-profit think tank, not a government body, and its entire purpose is to make Parliament legible to ordinary citizens: plain-language Bill summaries, tracking of what's actually happening in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and — most usefully for research purposes — the free "Laws of India" database, holding roughly 4,000 Central and State Acts. If a Bill is in the news and you want to know what it actually says without wading through legislative drafting language, PRS's summary is usually the first stop, not the last.
