Think of it like a company splitting in two: until 2019, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana shared one High Court, sitting in Hyderabad, a legacy of the two regions being merged into a single state back in 1956. When Telangana became its own state in 2014, the High Court eventually followed in 2019 — Telangana kept the original Hyderabad building and bench, and Andhra Pradesh built a fresh one at its new capital, Amaravati. It's one of only two High Courts in the country younger than most working lawyers.
Jurisdiction Map: Covers Andhra Pradesh. Principal seat: Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. It has no permanent Bench elsewhere; every matter is heard at this one seat.
Citation: Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014.
